PAVIA-POTHECARY TIP OF THE MONTH: LEMONGRASS FOR HAPPY FEET!
Lemongrass is an excellent oil for many reasons. Known as Cymbopogon Citratus, Lemongrass is listed on AromaWeb.com as being good for acne, athlete's foot, excessive perspiration, flatulence, repelling insects, muscle aches, and oily skin. The Aromatherapy Companion by Victoria H. Edwards (1949) describes Lemongrass as having an uplifing scent (and indeed it does - it smells like a cross between Ylang Ylang and Lemon) as well as antiviral, anti-fungal, and sedative properties. Almost every aromatherapy recipe out there for foot odor or other foot ailment includes Lemongrass. Here are just a few:
-
Athlete's Foot Gel: Put 12 drops of Lemongrass and 12 drops of Patchouli in a 50g jar of Aloe gel and rub on affected areas.
-
Soak for Athlete's Foot: 3 drops of Lemongrass and 2 drops of Patchouli in a basin of hot water make a great foot bath.
-
Athlete's Foot Spray: Combine 10 drops Lemongrass, 10 drops Patchouli, and 5 drops Myrrh in 50mL of distilled water in a atomizer. Shake well and spray daily onto affected areas.
-
Smelly Feet Powder: Add 12 drops Cedarwood oil, 3 drops Lemongrass oil, and 3 drops Lime oil to 1/2 cup of talc powder (but add it drop by drop). Seal in an airtight bottle, shake well, and let it sit overnight. Dust feet lightly each day with the mixture.
-
Soak for Hot & Sweaty Feet: Soak feet in hot water containing 2 drops of Lemongrass and 2 drops of Peppermint.
-
Soak for Smelly Feet: Same as making the Smelly Feet Powder, but put 2 drops of each of Cedarwood, Lemongrass, and Lime into hot water for a foot bath.
-
Anti-Fungal Foot Soak: Add 2 drops of Lemongrass, 2 drops of Patchouli, and 2 drops of Tea Tree oil into a foot bath.
Given Lemongrass' wonderful properties for feet, how could we not design a pedicure around it? This is how our newest foot treatment, the Lavender & Lemongrass Sole Salvation, was born. Using GetFresh's line of foot products, this new pedicure is excellent for keeping feet fungus-free, callous-free, smooth, soft, and happy!

HOROSCOPE FOR GEMINI - BY THERESA HATCHER
Geminis are those dual-natured, complex souls born between May 20th and June 20th. Those born under the sign of the Twins are elusive and contradictory; on the one hand, this produces the virtue of versatility, but on the other hand, the vices of "two-facedness" and flightiness. Because Gemini is linked with Mercury, the planet of childhood and youth, Geminis tend to have both the graces and faults of the young. When they are good, they are very attractive, but when they are bad, they are more the worse for being the charmers that they are. Geminis take up new activities enthusiastically, but lack application, constantly needing new interests and flitting from project to project as apparently purposelessly as a butterfly dancing from flower to flower. Changing horses in mid-stream is another small quirk in the Gemini personality, which makes decision-making, and sticking to a decision, particularly difficult for them.
For Gemini, you may have noticed that early 2005 continued an ongoing pattern of learning to be more vulnerable, yet passionate in your primary relationship. From now on, there could be increased responsibilities with respect to relatives, or a sense of being repressed by them. Your growth will come from being more focused, deliberate, and analytical in your communication.- T.H.
SPECIAL OFFER FOR GEMINI:
Come tap into the natural, latent energies around your birthday - book a 1-hour Astrological Chart Reading or Reiki session, and receive a complimentary 20-minute Intuitive Tarot Reading!

FATHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS
1. KNOCK HIS SOCKS OFF! Seriously, it's called "Knock Your Socks Off," our new foot deodorizing spray by GetFresh. Perfect for stink-a-phobes, this powerful Lemongrass foot spray is good as an odor-buster after taking shoes off, or when used prior to putting on shoes. It's also packed with aloe vera, witch hazel, cucumber, and menthol, which means Dad's feet will not only smell better, but also look and feel better too! You can even use it in stealth: Dad doesn't have to know who his Foot Fairy is!

2. A LITTLE LONGEVI-TEA: Finally, this ancient Chinese secret is making its way into the modern world. One doctor of Chinese medicine told me that as good as green tea is for women, it is even better for men. There is little doubt, however, that it is good for both sexes, as a 1994 epidemiological study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute indicated that drinking green tea reduced the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by almost 60%. Recently, researchers at the University of Purdue concluded that a certain compound in green tea inhibits the growth of cancer cells, and other research indicates that green tea lowers total cholesterol levels. Is Dad looking to lose weight? A 1999 study at the University of Geneva in Switzerland found that men who were given a combination of caffeine and green tea extract burned more calories than those given only caffeine or a placebo. So give Dad the gift of health this Father's Day! If you have any questions or comments, please write us at info@paviadayspa.com!
